I am a lover of a beautifully set table.  I love luxe linens, great chargers, beautiful stem ware, china and flatware.  I love chair dressings too.  Here are a few of my my favorite set ups.

Linens from Wildflower Linens

Wildflower Linen
I love the ruching on the the chair covers.

Dress your cocktail tables also.

The table set up with the soft lighting, the sparkle of the stemware, chargers and flatware all work together to create a magical feel for a reception.
Even with natural light you get the sparkle from the stemware, and flatware.  A beautifully set table is one of the things that you can do for your event to create a WOW factor for your guests.

Promises

Weddings are made of promises.  The bride and groom  promise to love, honor, cherish and sometimes the dreaded obey, but the premise of all weddings are promises made between two individuals.  These promises are made in front of family and friends and clergy. Throughout the whole wedding process,  there are also lots of other promises made to the bride and groom.
promise is a commitment by someone to do or not do something. As wedding vendors, we mostly  make promises to do something for the happy couples.  Each of us, based on our products  make unique promises.  Our promises all have a material component, a room or space to hold the event, beautiful linens, transportation, great food and as a event designer, I make promises also, the freshest flowers, elegant containers, beautiful fabrics, but we also provide an emotional component to our services,  that we will do our best to make your event exceptional.  We work with you over months to get the right look, the right room, the right color and the right vase,  all of this creates trust.  The bride believes that she will get what she desires and I in turn promise to deliver on said promises.
As a vendor, be very aware of your stated and implied promises to the bride and groom,  these are the things that create the experience that the couple will either rave about to friends or curse you because they were not delivered.  Remember that as vendors our brands are always about trust.  People trust us with the most important day of their lives and we should not take the lightly.

Thanksgiving

During this time of the year our thoughts turn toward expressing thanks for the many blessings that have been bestowed upon us.  I try to remember to give thanks every morning and many times during the day  for the millions of things that I have been blessed with.  One of the things that our family does on Thanksgiving day is to gather around the dining table standing before we have the meal and each one of us states to the group what they are most thankful for.  It is moving to hear the many things that I sometimes had not thought to put on my list of things to be grateful for.
Today the thing that I am most grateful for is GOD's Grace.  He didn't have to do what He did for me, but He did and I am grateful.
May your Thanksgiving be bountiful, peaceful and filled with the love of family and friends.

Let's Take a Look at That!!!

I find that it is very helpful when working with event clients, to create a vision
www.metasflowers.com
board, so that when we are communicating about their wants for their big event that we are all on the same page. I create a vision/inspiration  board based on our initial discussion. Once we have an visual of what the preferences for bouquets, flowers, dress style and colors are, it becomes easy to decide if the style works, if the colors are aesthetically pleasing and if this is really what they want the ceremony and reception to look like. It is sometimes difficult to see in our minds eye how things will look if we have all of the wedding elements separate. It creates something all together different when all of the wedding elements can be seen together. As designers, we can then make suggestions of things that could enhance the experience such as lighting, draping, chair treatments, etc.
The vision board to the right was created for a 2012 bride who's initial request was an elegant but simply wedding with clean lines and no 'big' flower arrangements. She wanted to use calla lilies and roses and did not like the huge arrangements traditionally used in the ceremony.
As wedding planners, we feel that the experience leading up to the big day should be as pleasurable as the day of. We try to make the decision making process as stress free as possible, making all choices clear, using as many visual aids as possible.

This is a partial quote from a recent bride, who we created and worked through a vision board with....
Thanks for bringing 'our vision' into light.
I am very excited to be working with you
for our wedding next summer

What to bring/ask when interviewing a Floral Designer

When interviewing   floral designers to help create your wedding vision, there is some information that can be helpful during your search.

1.  Fabric swatches.  There are usually several different names for similar colors, so when discussing with  the designer, you are both  are speaking of the same colors when describing linens, chairs covers, runners or other fabrics to be used.

2.  Photos of bouquet shapes and/or flowers that you like.

3.  Photos of flowers or anything that you don't like.

4. If you have favorite flowers or flowers that you want used in  your bouquet or other arrangements, i.e. altar, reception, bring a list.

5.  Ask for a detailed estimate before making any decisions.

6. Ask about payments schedules and forms payments accepted.

7.  If you have not seen the designers work, ask for photos or website information.

It is much easier to get a visual of what you want you wedding and reception to look like if there is something to show that designer.  Concepts are sometimes hard to convey with just words.

Try to narrow the list of people you want to interview to no more than 3.  If interviewing more, the interview process can become overwhelming.  All will offer some elements that you like and the more interviews the more difficult it becomes to make a decision.  There will be hundreds of decisions made before the wedding day, try to keep this process as streamlined as possible.

    Florist or Floral Designer????

Some  information in your search for the right person to create the flowers for your wedding.

Let's talk about the difference between  a floral designer and a florist.  Normally a designer will create an overall image for the wedding, a concept based on your individual preferences, while a florist will create the various floral pieces and deliver them to your venue.

Designers usually will have access to wedding  accessories , coordinated linens, chair covers, speciality urns and vases and other items for rental.  A floral designer will help you work through such issues a placement of centerpices for maximun exposure, create an overal designs for the room. They may also have speciality lighting and are able to coordinate all of these elements in order to create very sophisticated and elegant events.

The designs and unique touches made our bride feel like she was a royal. A lavish and stunning event was produced that included jewels, feathers, linens and spectacular lighting.
